Help with in/outbound routes

I need a solution

Hi,

it may be a odd question, but I have problems understanding the system of this outbound/inbound routes.

Following scenario: an external company should be able to send emails on behalf of us to our employees. Did I understood it right that I need to add the IP address of the mail server of this company to our outbound route? If so, can this company then try to send emails by using cluster1.eu.messagelabs.com? Or does the company need to use the cluster1out.eu.messagelabs.com?

These emails are just going in one direction: from the external company to us (but using our domain as sender).

Or did I misunderstood it and I need to add an inbound route? I would be very happy if someone could explain that to me. Thanks a lot!

Regards,

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)

All mails send from a new server (srv54.mihosting.net) 136.243.72.35 is timing out.

This is a new server. I have double check the Ip is clean. And http://www.senderbase.org/lookup/?search_string=136.243.72.35 report the reputation as good.

I have used symantec removal ip service and keeps on saying the ip has a good reputation and there is no need to be removed. But no way to send messages to symantec customers from this ip.

Could you help us.

Thank you.

MX record priority

I need a solution

I'm not familiar with Email Cloud Security from Symantec but need your expertise help.

We have customers and suppliers using Messagelab for in and out bound email.

From time to time we have problem with email coming from these domains as they are not using the MX record in correct order.

Our company have 3 entries in the MX record, two of the records are for backup purpose. Our backup mail server has more resticitive security settings so mail are sometimes bouncing back to sender.  We really would like to have all email going through the primary mailserver and have the sending server to use the MX record priority.

When talking to our customers and suppliers, they say they don't have any problem with their emial.

Anyone that have seen similar issues or have ideas what is causing email from  Messagelab not using the MX priority.

Thanks

Mike

I need a solution

I have moved away from Messagelabs and re-pointed my MX records. Since then I have had several clients receive bounce-backs when trying to send e-mail to me. I am sure that these affected clients are with Messagelabs and there is some sort of internal error. I have been on the phone and given several different email addresses, I need to know how to cancel and completely remove my domain from MEssagelabs infrastructure.

Any help/advise would be great. Thanks.

How to deal with commercial mailing services (constantcontact, mailchimp, amazonses, dynect-mailer, etc)

$

I need a solution

I receive a large amount of spam/marketing mail from commercial email senders that send on behalf of other companies. In one example I get information via constantcontact from one company that is useful. The other 1,000 companties that use the constantconact service send garbage marketing newsletters all day long. I have newsletter blocking enabled, but this catches so many things that are not newsletters that I still need to utilze whitelists/blacklists to make up the difference.

Since messagelabs only looks at the Envelope (smtp) sender (http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/messagelabs...) and not the From: address I cannot selectively block/allow specific senders that utilze these commercial services. I have to allow or block the entire service which is very heavy handed.

This seems to be a major limitation of the product to not allow for furhter tuning of the sender based on the From address.

I looked into using Data Protection policies to scan header info, which works, but I am unable to then send messages that do not match my "whitelist" to a users quarantine. I have to choose whether to block, allow, or redirect. Again, very heavy handed and since anti-spam policies are evaluated first, I would have to globally whitelist the commercial email providers and then maintain a list of "good" From addresses via data protection and hope nothing changes or the mail will not be sent to quarantine, only blocked.

How do people deal with this and keep their sanity?

Connection timeout for cluster8.eu.messagelabs.com

I need a solution

Hi,

I can't connect to any of the IP addresses of cluster8.eu.messagelabs.com (e.g. 85.158.139.19) for mail delivery via port 25 for many days.

Postfix receives a timeout and any TCP connection times out.

The source IP of our mail server is 188.40.45.37 and it is not listed on any blacklist nor has any bad reputation marks on http://ipremoval.sms.symantec.com/lookup/

TCP connections from IP addresses within the same subnet (e.g. 188.40.45.37) are possible for connecting port 25/tcp and ICMP ping response packets are replied with an ICMP reply.

Though it seems all IP addresses of cluster8.eu.messagelabs.com are blocking incoming connection to port 25 from 188.40.45.37.

Could you please help me, with this problem? Pretty please.

Kind regards,

Christian

I need a solution

Hi there, I run my own mail server for my consulting company, hosted at Digital Ocean in New York. It has had the same IP address for a few years, I publish an SPF record, it has PTR records for both IPv6 and IPv4, and it does not send spam or act as an open relay or anything like that. However I still get the error 501 Connection rejected by policy [7.7] 9612 whenever I send to a company that uses Symantec Email Security (Messagelabs). Can you please delist my IP address, which is 192.241.243.54, and the domain is noware.co.uk.

thanks,

Neil Cook

Dear,

Our company offers web hosting services and email.

We checked our IP in several lists of "blacklist" and are not listed with a bad reputation.
We checked including the Symantec Web site at http://ipremoval.sms.symantec.com/lookup/

But even so, we still receive an email return as follows:

SMTP error from remote mail server after the initial connection:
host cluster4.eu.messagelabs.com [85.158.137.68]:
SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection:
501 Connection rejected by policy [7.7] 3106, please for more details about this error message.

I believe the recipient's domain is a Symantec customer. And it seems that disreputable-list is not updated or applied on the client system.

This is very inconvenient for us, you will need to contact all these areas to raise the destination IP manually. There is a practical practice at all.

I would appreciate if someone could shed some light on this subject.

Thank

I need a solution

I have a mail server that I have recently moved from one hosting provider to another.  Ever since the switch I have been receiving timeouts on connections to cluster3.eu.messagelabs.com.  I have checked the IP against numerous blacklists and all have come out clean.

I believe the IP address was used to send out spam before I started using it and I have been able to resolve this issue with other mail services.  This seems to be the only one.  I am hoping someone from Symantec can PM me and help check on the IP reputation of my mail server and correct it if possible.

Thanks in advance.

I need a solution

Good evening.
We are running into a scenario where 2 separate clients at 2 separate companies and therefore 2 different domains are no longer receiving email messages from a specific email address from our company.
Our company utilizes Outlook 365 and each of the organizations experiencing challenges receiving our email messages are utilizing
Messagelabs.
We are able to trace our outgoing messages and verify delivery to "cluster4.us.messagelabs.com at 216.82.242.179"
Each recipient organization states they ceased receiving incoming messages from us within the same time period (around 7/28/2016). We are not receiving any error messages not are we receiving an NDR.
Additional information can be provided upon request.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I need a solution

Hi

I would like to know if the following scenario is valid once a customer have deployed EmailSecurity.Cloud:

1. A Policy will be triggered if the subject contains a specific keyword.

2. Action will be Route to a onsite MTA

2.1 Onsite firewall will allow smtp inbound traffic from Message Labs and redirect to the internal MTA.

Question:

- This kind of situation will work?

Thanks
