According to my DMARC reports from various email providers (Yahoo, Google etc.), the following IP address is sending email from my domain but is missing from the Symantec.cloud SPF record:

    195.245.231.131

According to the RIPE entry for the IP address, it's part of a block owned by Symantec:

    https://apps.db.ripe.net/search/query.html?searcht...

Please can Symantec update their SPF record (spf.messagelabs.com) to include the range?

    I need a solution

I own a mail/web server with IP 85.17.254.35 for several years already. Zero spam mails have been sent by this server, and as a consequence it is not on any blocklist. According to your Symantac IP Investigation Query "The IP address you submitted, 85.17.254.35, does not have a negative reputation"

Yet to some customers and business relations I can't send mails, the error I get is:

501 Connection rejected by policy [7.7] 14513, please visit www.messagelabs.com/support for more details about this error message.

I believe this has been an issue ever since I have this server. I assumed the problem would vanish automatically, but it doesn't. Can you please have a look? By the way the URL you are referring to (www.messagelabs.com/support) does not exist.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I need urgent support to have our central mail exchange server unlocked. After having changed IP emails from our customers are being blocked from your system.

The new email server uses IP 84.200.60.205, is a clean install, no problems with DNS and server configuration.

According to many forum entries, you manually modifiy your security lists, so please do so as we are confronted with some really angry customers which are still not able (after more than 7 days) to send email to your customers.

Waiting for your quick reply and solution.

    Sincerely,

    Armin Lediger

    Hello,

    I need a solution

    Dear sirs

It's almost a couple of weeks that I found every day our mail server listed in your blacklist with a bad reputation. Each day I request an investigation at http://ipremoval.sms.symantec.com/lookup/ and the problem seems to be resolved till the next day. The reason provided for the assessment is “The host is unauthorized to send email directly to email servers” but this message cannot help me in any way to figure out what the actual problem is.This issue is costing to our company a lot of problems with our customer using Symantec mail security and so rejecting our emails. There is no spam coming out from our mail server, there is no virus on our mail server and no other pc in our network is sending spam nor is infected. Please keep in mind that our mail server is not listed in any worldwide blacklist but your one.

Would you please help me to solve this problem ?

    Thank you in advance

    Kind regards

    Marco Della Torre

    I need a solution

I am wondering if it would be possible to unblock an entire block of IP's. Going through one of our blocks (64.191.166.*) It looks like all of them (other that a handful that we have sepecifically requested removal for) have been blocked at some point. I know this is likely a little out of the norm but it seems like doing them all in one go would be less overhead on either side than submitting one at a time.

Is there any way to do this?

    Thanks,
    Casey

    I need a solution

I'm having a problem with sending e-mails off of Outlook. The issue is, certain customized email address associated to Symantec keep getting bounced back for over a week now. We've checked out IP on your blacklist tool remover, and it said our IP wasn't associated to any blacklist, yet we still cannot send emails out.

The error from emails bouncing back is:

    host cluster1a.us.messagelabs.com [85.158.139.103]
SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT

    Our IP Address is: 198.57.193.16

Is there any way we can be removed? Thanks in advance.

  • 01/14/17--06:04: 553-Message filtered
  • I need a solution

    Good morning.

Starting early January 2017, users in my domain (nevosi.com) have been having extensive trouble both emailing to and receiving email from Symantec Email Security.cloud customers -- primarily cbts.net and cinbell.com domains.  This does not affect all emails, but rather only certain emails such as emails with attachments, replies to emails received from cbts.net/cinbell.com users, and meeting requests.  Failures are met with an 553 rejection (after the message content has been transmitted) similar to the following:
Remote Server returned '<cluster6.us.messagelabs.com #5.0.0 smtp; 553-Message filtered. Refer to the Troubleshooting page at 553-http://www.symanteccloud.com/troubleshooting for more 553 information. (#5.7.1)>'

This issue started after an issue with the provider who hosts our reverse DNS resulted in no reverse resolution for our network. This reverse DNS issue was rectified a few days, however we continue to have issues sending to/receiving from Symantec Email Security.cloud customers.

    Our MTA is nv-dc2-mail1.nevosi.com/198.187.23.231

As I stated above, reverse DNS is back in place for this MTAs:
    nv-dc2-mail1.nevosi.com. 523    IN      A       198.187.23.231
231.23.187.198.in-addr.arpa is an alias for 231.192-26.23.187.198.in-addr.arpa.
    231.192-26.23.187.198.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer nv-dc2-mail1.nevosi.com.

This MTA's IP addresses is covered by an SPF record that covers nevosi.com which has been in place since 2010:
    nevosi.com.             599     IN      TXT     "v=spf1 mx ip4:198.187.23.192/26 ip4:10.245.0.0/24 ~all"

I have verified that SPF and DKIM both validate by emailing a Gmail account and clicking "Show Original" for the message which reports the following:
    SPF:    PASS with IP 198.187.23.231
    DKIM:    PASS with domain nevosi.com

The Symantec Email Security.cloud IP Reputation Investigation tool (http://ipremoval.sms.symantec.com/lookup/) reports the following:
"The IP address you submitted, 198.187.23.231, does not have a negative reputation and therefore cannot be submitted for investigation.", and

I even resorted to spinning up another MTA and attempting to relay messages through it, but those messages are rejected as well, so I have reverted that change and am back to using nv-dc2-mail1.nevosi.com/198.187.23.231.

Can anyone with Symantec please assist?  I have exhausted all possible avenues as a non-customer; I simply want to be able to send emails to and receive emails from your customers.  I would be most appreciative of any assistance.

    Thank you in advance,
    -jd
